DubaiMums was founded in 2011 by Jenny Ashton, a British expat. Jenny (on the left of the pic) started to organize Coffee Mornings for stay-at-home mums and here she hands in the first prize awarded, sponsored by GlobalEye.

As an expat woman, raising my six-year-old daughter here in the UAE, whilst holding down a full-time job, I fully understand the value of sharing information and offering support to fellow mums. The rules and regulations for expats can be quite daunting and without the right information and support can leave you extremely exposed to things you wouldn’t necessarily realise would apply to you. Finding time for ourselves or knowing what is going on in our community is certainly not easy, with all the school runs, playdates and everyday running around that we find ourselves doing

One year later, Clementina Kongslund, a Romanian expat, joined Jenny in organizing the Coffee Mornings. Now, we don’t organize coffee mornings anymore but we still try to provide our community with the best deals in the city for mums and kids, free gifts or special competitions to win amazing prizes.

Clementina Kongslund, came to Dubai in 2010 together with her Danish husband. She has two daughters, age 3 and 5. In 2011, she met Jenny at one of the Coffee Mornings and was a guest every time. Soon, she became Jenny’s partner in organizing the events and continued to support the DubaiMums community through the Facebook page after the events stopped and Jenny got back to a full-time job.

Clementina runs also her own online shop for babies and children, Nordic Fairyland, selling organic clothes, organic soft toys and nursery decorations from European brands. She also runs Education and Afterschool, a website that helps parents to choose a nursery, school or afterschool activity within their community or nearby. For the past three years, she organized the Education Fair, an event dedicated to residents and companies settled in Dubailand area.
